One week since their launch, Solihull’s 1 million pound investment in new family hubs is already making a difference in our communities. They are testament to Solihull Conservatives’ commitment to supporting families across the borough through investment in public services.
Importantly, Family Hubs will play a key role in providing support to young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) - an absolutely vital service.
What Are Family Hubs?
Solihull’s Family Hubs are a one-stop shop for families, offering a range of services under one roof. From health appointments and youth clubs to parent-child sessions and special educational needs support, these hubs are a vital resource for our community.
The Evergreen Hub, and the new Elmwood and Riverside Hubs, simplify access to family support - the integrated model ensures that families can access comprehensive services in a welcoming and modern environment.
Positive Impact for Families
The Hubs are there to support families from before pregnancy through to adulthood, acknowledging the critical importance of the first 1,001 days of a child’s life. Each Hub will offer sessions tailored to meet the needs of our community.
Later this year, and once refurbishment is complete, we’ll be opening a fourth hub at Hatchford Brook. In addition to the Hubs, outreach services will extend support across Solihull, ensuring that every family has access to the help they need.
Special Educational Needs and Disability Support
Staff working within the hubs are knowledgeable about SEND and can support families with accessing SEND support services such as SENDIASS. They can advise parents on the SEND code of practice and how to request an Education Health Care assessment for example and signpost to the Local Offer.
Funding
This initiative would not have been possible without tireless advocacy from the Conservative team at Solihull Borough Council in securing investment from the Department for Education and UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The success of the Family Hubs scheme underscores our Conservative Council’s commitment to providing the best possible support for our residents and ensuring a brighter future for all our children and young people.
Stay tuned for more updates and information about how the Family Hubs are making a difference in our community.
