The riots and antisocial behaviour in the West Midlands, particularly in the heart of Solihull’s community, have been deeply devastating.
On Monday, I met with police and community leaders to emphasise the need to foster constructive dialogue to bridge divides and build community cohesion. This approach is essential.
West Midlands Police assured me that Sunday’s incident concluded without any major violence or vandalism. However, it must be unequivocally understood that anyone who brings destruction and violence to our community will face the full force of the law.
The lack of damage is a testament to St. Alphege's local community, businesses, and our police officers for how they managed the situation on Sunday. We are grateful that the scenes witnessed in other parts of the country were not reflected here in Solihull.
I will continue to monitor the situation and do my utmost to protect St. Alphege residents.
If you witness antisocial behaviour in our community, call emergency services at 999. If you’d like to discuss the situation, email me at [email protected].
