As your Councillor in St Alphege I wanted to set up a community litter-picking group as I believe it fosters community spirit and focuses on environmental issues. Such efforts not only enhance the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of local parks but also strengthen communal bonds and promote civic responsibility.
Our group meet at Bruton Park Car park on the last Saturday of the month at 10am and walk through the park and surrounding areas to pick up any litter we see. We then convene at the Cottage across the road from Bruton Park Car park for cake and Tea or Coffee.
My initiative in St Alphege is more than just a litter-picking group; it's a movement towards community building and environmental responsibility. By addressing challenges and exploring avenues for growth, the group can continue to make a significant impact on both the local environment and the community's social fabric. This effort not only keeps the parks clean but also builds a connected, environmentally conscious community, setting an excellent example for other areas.
If anyone would like to join the group please do get in touch, sign up at Love Solihull in order to get your equipment and come along and join us.
