Reflecting on my busy morning at the St. Alphege Councillor's Surgery, I conclude that the array of queries I encountered today illustrates the diverse interests and concerns of our constituents.
There were queries regarding the impending boundary changes. The Boundary Changes, will see St. Alphege Ward gaining Monkspath while ceding areas to Olton, Silhill and Shirley East—with the latter's ward being renamed to Sharmans Cross.
It's essential to recognise that such boundary adjustments are not undertaken lightly. There is a comprehensive review process aimed at ensuring fair and effective representation for all residents. The shift towards incorporating Monkspath while adjusting our boundaries with Olton, Silhill and the newly named Sharmans Cross reflects a consideration of demographic changes, community identities, and the principle of electoral equality.
As these changes are currently open for consultation, I cannot stress enough the importance of public participation in this process. Your input is invaluable in shaping the final outcome, ensuring that the revised boundaries reflect our community's needs and aspirations. I urge everyone to engage with this consultation, for the future of St. Alphege and its neighbouring wards.
If anyone would like to participate in the review please go to - www.lgbce.org.uk
The Consultation will close on 12 July 2024.
