This was a wonderful community-driven fundraising event where members of the Community have come together to raise funds for the Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull, West Midlands.
It was a bustling charity bazaar set during the Mid-Autumn Festival that is Celebrated in Hong Kong. The Fundraising organisers wanted to introduce the residents of Solihull to take part in their traditions. There were stalls filled with a variety of traditional snacks like peanut brittle, sticky rice cakes, mooncakes, shrimp chips, cookies, beef jerky, pineapple cakes, and coconut tarts. On other stalls, people were engaging in a mooncake workshop, carefully crafting these traditional treats. There was a lantern workshop, with attendees creating colourful lanterns. Cllr Gethen and Cllr Qais took part in creating their own lanterns to take home, learning about the Mid-Autumn festival the the reason the lanterns are made.
There was a Chinese music show providing a festive backdrop whilst attendees visited each stall. The atmosphere was vibrant and communal, showcasing the spirit of charity and cultural celebration.
The Marie Curie Hospice could not be more grateful for this fundraising event. They raised over £2,000 on this one event alone.
